At Punsand Bay we’ll give you the tip and so much more. Our destination is always evolving to include new facilities, accommodation and services for our guests. We firmly believe that just because we’re off the beaten track in a remote wilderness location, it doesn’t mean you can’t live your best life. In fact, because of this – we are living our best lives – on a beautiful sandy beach, in a sweeping bay with views to The Tip and Torres Strait Islands beyond. We’re a family owned and operated business located 5km from the ‘Tip of Australia’ and are committed to ensuring you enjoy and experience the best parts of the Northern Peninsular Area and the Torres Straits.
The Corrugation Bar is legendary and has an extensive range of cold drinks on tap, bottles, cans, wine, spirits, slushie cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. It’s a great place to meet other travelers and swap stories, plus you’ll tick the list as having chilled at the most northern bar on mainland Australia. Espresso coffee is served up every day from approx 7.30am to 8pm, with a range of alternative milks and syrups available.
Our restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week during peak season (June to mid-October) for dine-in and takeaway. Our menus are seasonal, with daily specials and a focus on freshness and flavour. We can cater to allergies and dietary requirements. Our famous wood fired pizzas are available during peak season 6 nights a week and Sundays for lunch. We also have a bakery cabinet fresh homemade daily options such as muffins, pies, wraps, sushi and range of sweet treats.
Our reception is open 7 days a week. Our lovely reservations team is there to check you in and out and provide knowledge on the local area. We have a huge range of merchandise and souvenirs, perfect for gift or if you have run out of clean clothes our Punsand Bay T-shirts have you covered. We stock basic items, like frozen bread, long life milk, bug spray, maps, ice, bait and a range of first aid items.
There’s lots of places you can’t swim up here, but our pool isn’t one of them! Grab your towel and cool off in the pool, which is lovely and shaded by established trees. The pool is close to the bar and restaurant, so you can even grab a sneaky snack, beverage or ice-cream to enjoy while you relax & take it all in.
Scenic heli flights have been taking off from Cape York Camping, Punsand Bay since 2014. Options range from a 10 to 55 minute scenic flight and they have you covered for that once in a lifetime experience. All flights travel over the Tip of Aus, there’s island transfers, heli fishing and custom packages. Enquire with our team today.
