Stage 3 COVID19 Restrictions – NPA

The Queensland Chief Health Officer has made the decision for remote communities to move from Stage 2 to State 3 of easing the COVID 19 restrictions roadmap. The Northern Peninsula Area will officially move to Stage 3 on the 10th July 2020 at 12pm.

Stage 3 of COVID -19 restrictions will bring us into alignment with the rest of Queensland. This means there is open travel within Queensland and increase in numbers for gatherings. For further details click on the link below:

The Chief Health Officer has made the decision that Stage 3 restrictions will allow travellers from other States to come across the Jardine Ferry this does not include people from Victoria.

It’s important to continue to practice social distance and good hygiene (washing hands regularly) and other public health measures as advised by the Chief Health Officer.

COVID-19 testing will continue at Bamaga Hospital as per the protocols set by Queensland Health. If you have any of the following symptoms fever, cough, sore throat, short winded, runny nose, loss of taste or smell please call Bamaga Hospital 4069 3166 to arrange for a test.

The NPA Local Disaster Management Group is continuing to meet regularly to monitor the COVID-19 situation and has a plan in place to implement restrictions quickly if required.
